A pair of critical Apple supply partners in Asia are hiring thousands of new employees. On Monday, Reuters confirmed that both TSMC and Foxconn are hiring 5,000 new team members.

TSMC and Hon Hai [parent company of Foxconn] posted the recruitment notices at an event designed for Taiwan university students who will graduate this year, the Economic Daily said.
Hon Hai's planned hiring is said to be the biggest of its kind in recent years. The resulting presumption, naturally, is that Apple is about to enter production for another new or refreshed device.

We are told that a majority of the talent coming into Foxconn will be directed toward research and development for automated production, e-commerce and robots.

In recent weeks, the rumor mill out of Asia has suggested that the iPhone 5S and iPad mini 2 are on the verge of entering production. If true, the addition of thousands of new employees at TSMC and Foxconn would certainly make sense at this juncture.
