Apple has updated its official Apple Store App.

Released Tuesday, Version 2.5 delivers two new attributes to the well-known iOS shopping storefront, both of which make the mobile shopping experience more seamless.

For starters, Apple has finally corrected the pesky inability to choose different shipping options for different items in an order. Now, shoppers using the app can pick which shipping options they want for specific items.

The other long-overdue addition to the app is a feature that plugs users into the supply status of projects at their nearest Apple store. Apple is now promising "an even easier way to see if the product you want is available for pickup at your favorite Apple Retail Store." For now, however, this feature is available only in the United States.

The freshly updated Apple Store app is available now at no charge.

Really! The iPad has been out for 3 years. Lots of other major retailers have made very nice iPad shopping apps. I find it incredible that Apple hasn't bothered yet. I can't imagine why. It should have been one of the first iPad apps released.
