Google has issued an update to the desktop version of Google Chrome Wednesday, bringing the desktop build to version 27.

The update adds the voice search feature that has been rumored to be added to the desktop version of Google Chrome for the last week. The voice search feature has been available in the iOS Google Search application for some time now, and is liked for the extremely accurate text-to-speech engine.

The voice search feature is a lot like Siri in many ways. You can ask questions like “What is the weather like today,” and you will get detailed information about your current location showing what the weather will be like. Alternatively, you can just use the voice search to avoid typing long search queries. That being said, while we may not have Siri for the Mac just yet (we only have Dictation), Google's voice search makes a good temporary replacement.

The voice search feature is accessed by clicking on the microphone icon that appears in the search bar on the Google Search Web page. You can simply click on it and you’ll be able to speak your query, as shown above.
