Two well-known British brands are getting behind Apple's Passbook, illustrating once again how quickly the digital ticket and coupon management service introduced in iOS 6 has caught on across the pond.

So far this week, both British Airways and Subway U.K. have updated their hugely popular apps in order to offer integration with Apple's Passbook.

Simple and to the point, the refreshed British Airways app now allows travelers to use Passbook to present their boarding pass - a trend that is quickly taking hold around the world through various prominent commercial airlines.

As it turns out, fast food sandwich giant Subway is just as enthusiastic about Passbook in Great Britain. For that reason, the popular restaurant chain has now tapped into the service with its prevalent loyalty card program. Consequently, consumers in the UK can now amass, monitor, and redeem rewards points for free or discounted meals all from within the Passbook platform.

Although Subway's Passbook integration is presently limited to the U.K., there's an excellent chance this won't remain the case for long.

I updated the subway I had but then I soon found out my passbook doesn't work. Can only think its something to do with jailbreaking. I tap passbook and all I get is a blank screen and nothing else happens. Shame really would like to give this a try.

You say Great Britain and then you say UK. There's a difference you know?

Which is it? GB or UK?

because it's trying to do away with money

I can walk into a subways and buy a sandwidge, I can even phone in my order

I can book a flight online or even go to a travel agent, I can even phone them

why do we need passbook at all, the iPhone comes with internet access I can make payments and find what I want via the internet, passbook is pointless to me, wow I can shave a minute off when making an order
