With 2013 now largely in the rear view mirror, Apple will enter the New Year with well over 400 retail stores in operation in 14 countries around the world.

But that list is poised to grow ever-so-slightly this weekend.

Earlier today, Apple confirmed on its website that the all-new Apple Store in San Francisco is opening this Saturday, December 14 at 8:00 a.m. At the same time, on the other side of the planet, another grand opening for Apple will also be taking place.

On that occasion, Apple will open its newest store in Germany. This one is located in Dusseldorf and now makes a baker's dozen in terms of the number of retail outlets Apple operates inside of German borders.

Apple reportedly plans to open at least 30 additional Apple stores globally next year.

During the company's last earnings call in October, Apple raked in $4.5 billion in revenue for the most recent quarter, 6% more than what Apple earned in the year-ago quarter.
