On Monday, developers were informed that older betas of OS X Yosemite and iOS 8 won’t be able to support upcoming iCloud-based features. Features including Mail Drop, iCloud Drive, and iCloud Photo Library will need iOS 8 beta 5 and OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 5 in order to work. Starting Tuesday, developers will have to be on the latest OS X betas and iOS to continue development. The last time the CloudKit database was wiped was in July for new Mail Drop and iCloud Drive services.

It has been noted that iCloud will be more powerful and integral with the new upcoming features. Users will be able to send attachments in messages up to 5GB and be able to tweak and edit moving images across devices with iCloud Photo Library. For those looking to use these new and upcoming functions, you will be required to have the latest and final version of iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite when released in the Fall.

We are only two weeks away from Apple’s big September 9th announcement for the iPhone 6. Be sure to tune in for updated news as new reports are coming out everyday anticipating the announcement.
