If good things take time, Apple Watch must be a really, really good thing.

Despite the instantly palpable consumer excitement for Apple's inaugural smartwatch, we'll have to wait a bit before we can get our hands -- or wrists -- on it.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said today on stage that Apple Watch will go on sale "early next year." We don't yet know if that means January, February, or March. But "early" will hopefully really mean "early."

When it does launch, however, we know what kind of price tag we're in for. According to today's announcement, pricing for Apple Watch starts at $349. Higher priced tiers were not confirmed.

Apple says the device will come in two different screen sizes, not to mention three different styles. And there's also a bunch of watch bands from which buyers can choose (six to start).
