Just as Apple finishes revealing the new iPhone lineup as well as the new Apple Watch on Tuesday, another rumor starts to circulate the web claiming the company’s rumored 12-inch MacBook Air will launch in 2015. We guess it’s safe to say wanting more is always part of human nature- the tech giant never seizes to catch a break. This time, rumor has it that the new sized MacBook Air will be available in three colors: gold, silver, and space gray to match the iPhone 6 counterparts. According to blog A Tech Website, the new slew of colors will be an additional offering on top of its current aluminum MacBook Airs.

Apparently, the Cupertino-based company is hoping for a release date sometime in mid-2015. The device has supposedly been pushed back many times already. KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo reported back in April that Apple would be releasing the thinner and lighter 12-inch MacBook Air in 2014. We’re not sure how true these rumors are, but it would be surprising if Apple decides to offer the three-color palette for the MacBook Air. Rumors are also claiming that the upcoming iPad lineup would have Apple’s signature 3-color palette. However, it does seem a little unlikely (not ruling out completely), that the company would offer such a huge change on a device like the MacBook Air. But who knows, maybe Apple is looking for change up some things.

How true do you think these rumors are and what do you think of it? Let us know in the comments below.

Look like for Apple the size really matters.

Wasn't the first thing Steve Jobs did when he came back to Apple was to get rid of all the options and cut the range back to core devices?

Can't help thinking Apple could do with remembering that.

You are assuming that isn't exactly what they are doing here. Let's put on our market analyst caps for a moment:

The new 12.1" is not in addition to the 13.3" and 11.6" MacBook Air: It replaces at least one. It is said to be the exact same size as the 11.6" Air but with a smaller bezel to fit a larger screen in the same area, so it clearly replaces the 11.6" model. When you think about it, it's very likely that it replaces BOTH the 11.6" and 13.3" Air.

There is less differentiation between the 13.3" MacBook Air and the 13.3" MacBook Pro once both have Retina displays and neither have optical drives and both have their memory and storage integrated/proprietary. Now there is even less differentiation between the 13.3" MacBook Air and the 12.1" MacBook Air. With the 12.1" Air, the 13.3" Air has very little reason to exist and I suspect it won't.

As for the colors, Jobs did release a range of fruity clear iMac colors, if you recall. I don't think colors count.
