Back in 2010, Apple and Google’s search and maps partnership was renewed, but that partnership is set to expire in the end of 2015. With the contract being one year away from ending, The Information reported that Microsoft and Yahoo are trying to take over as the default search engine for Apple’s Safari. The Information noted that Apple exec Eddy Cue, has already been approached by Microsoft and Yahoo executives in regards to this matter. However, there has yet to be any news on whether Apple will replace Google at all.

If you think about it though, it makes sense that Apple may be looking for a new search provider as they have already taken out other Google iOS integrations. Apple devices used to have the YouTube and Maps app (both Google apps) default on their products but starting iOS 6, the Cupertino-based company removed it. It was noted that Yahoo has tried working with Apple for a while now but has had no luck in creating a partnership. Apple even took Yahoo out of the equation on its Weather app by retrieving weather information from The Weather Channel directly.

We will keep you posted with any new information as this may be a big deal for many users of Apple products.

I have to say, Google is the go to in search engine. It's funny Apple helped to make allot of businesses more popular, look at YouTube. I think they grew so big\popular partially because of the new iPhone users of 2007 had unlimited data and a huge (at the time) screen to watch their favorite videos.

Umm, you will still be able to use Google. It will just not be the default. Some of you act like you have no choice.

If Apple's partnership for Maps from Google was supposed to be from 2010 to 1015, why don't we have Google Maps on a stock iPhones anymore?
