Apple is not only one of the most recognizable and profitable companies in the history of the business world, it's also one of the most "disruptive" ideas seen across multiple generations.

The folks at BusinessWeek are out with a new feature that pays homage to the most disruptive ideas dating back nearly a century. Per the rundown of 85 "ideas" published by the magazine, Apple clocks in at #10.

Bypassing the likes of "Al-Qaeda," "Global Warming" and "GPS," the disruptive impact of Apple's emergence on the world around us has been monumental, says BusinessWeek, which only puts 9 larger disruptions (such as television, microchips and the jet engine) ahead of Apple.

It's a huge recognition for sure, although you have to wonder if Apple execs are a little irked by the fact that Google was deemed more "disruptive" by placing #6 on the list.

And, for the record, I'm guessing ModMyi would have been #86 if the list had been elongated a tad.
