According to the New York Post, Beats cofounder Jimmy Iovine is trying to get more top artists around the world to make exclusive iTunes albums. Last year, popular artist Beyoncé released a brand new surprise album that was exclusive to iTunes and was extremely successful. It seems like Apple is trying to do the same with other artists to make the same type of deals. However, it was noted by the New York Post that record label execs are not sitting well with the idea of artists making side deals with streaming services.

The idea of artists making their own side deals with streaming services doesn’t go down too well with record label brass, however.
Many popular artists have connections with Beats and even help promote the popular headphones and headsets. Artists like Nicki Minaj, Will.i.am, Kanye West, Pharrell, and Gwen Stefani are all good friends with Iovine. It is unclear as to who Iovine is trying to target for exclusive deals, but don’t forget both Iovine and Dr. Dre have many connections in the music industry with various artists. Beats marks the most expensive acquisition by Apple, with the Cupertino-based company buying them out at $3 billion earlier in the year. Let’s see what Apple has lined up for us after spending so much on the company.
