All morning long, and continuing through to the afternoon, Apple's digital content stores are all experiencing technical difficulties, as indicated by Apple's online System Status Web page. The technical difficulties span from the iOS App Store to the Mac App Store and also include the iBooks Store and iTunes Store.

The Cupertino-based Apple has made an official statement Wednesday afternoon to CNBC that places the blame on an internal DNS error; the response goes something like this:

We apologize to our customers experiencing problems with iTunes and other services this morning. The cause was an internal DNS error at Apple. We are working to make all of the services available to customers as soon as possible, and we thank everyone for their patience.
The good news is that Apple is aware of the issue and is working to make it right by attempting to fix the problem. The bad news is that the digital content stores continue to remain offline due to this error, leaving many Apple device users frustrated at the inability to download content from these highly-popular online digital content stores.

We will continue to keep you updated on the latest, so stay tuned!

A somber reminder that no matter how redundant your environment is, human intervention and configuration errors can still bring everything down.
