Apple Pay just recently made its way to the UK and banks HSBC as well as First Direct have been added as participating issuers. Both banks announced they would be supporters of Apple Pay once the service went live. However, neither ended up supporting the mobile payment service when it launched mid-July. When this happened, the banks told customers that they were working closely with the Cupertino-based company and "properly review and test our systems before launching in two weeks."

For those who aren’t familiar with First Direct, it is an HSBC brand but only operates over the phone or online. Currently, UK Apple Pay partners include American Express, MBNA, Nationwide, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander and Ulster Bank. Still listed as coming soon are: Bank of Scotland, Lloyds Bank, M&S Bank and TSB. Banks coming soon are listed and they include Bank of Scotland, Lloyds Bank, M&S Bank and TSB. Take a look at the full list in the source link below.

Have you used the contactless payment service overseas yet? If you have, what are some notable differences and similarities?
