Well, I was bored today and decided to look on apple.com and came across the Mac Pro, which I've never investigated until now...

But wow, it's official; if I ever win the lottery, I know what I'll be getting (I hope my customization shows up right). This machine is a BEAST:

    Configure - Apple Store (U.S.)

EDIT: Rawr; my custom doesn't show up in the link, so here's a recap:

    Two 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    32GB RAM (8x4GB)
    4 x 1TB HDD's
    RAID Card
    NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 1.5GB
    Two 16x Superdrives
    2 x Apple 30' HD Cinema Display
    Wireless Mighty Mouse
    Wireless Keyboard
Quad Channel 4GB Fibre Channel PCI Express Card
    iWork '08
    Final Cut Express 4
    Aperture 2
    Logic Express 8
    Apple Care

    Total Price: $24,472

    Awesome...

    ^Awesome, isn't it?

I would run OSX on one monitor, Vista with Parallels on the other monitor and just ball out with everything running at once. I'd be playing Halo 2 while rendering an HD video and photoshopping a picture with a movie downloading in the background while listening to some music...

Yes they are... but I haven't had a single problem with mine and it truly does almost every task faster than any computer I've ever had.

Not to mention, it looks beautiful sitting next to my desk..: )

    Yeah, that's awesome, savon.

Bet your specs aren't as good as that one.

(Or if they are, expect me to make an appearance at your house tonight) :P

^Also hella expensive; that's probably what I would have gotten if there was some more money available. I'm just glad my parents bought my entire MacBook for me...

The new Pro's are really, really sweet, though. 2.8GHz with the discrete chip = some nice gaming and speed, among other things.

Expensive yes, but considering we are talking workstation class, not so much.
SGI or SUN Micro would hit you harder.....

My 3.2Ghz with 10GB and 3TB of hdd and I are having a serious love affair these days!

    Money well spent!

My Mac Pro has been a treat. I do print and web design / art direction and this machine has made my life a lot better. The drive bays are wonderful, the processors are lightning fast, the RAM -- 8GB of love is divine. Truth be told the machine is a little overkill for my professional design needs but I'll take it thankyouverymuch!

One eSATA note -- Bought a kit to run an eSATA port from the SATA port on the board. Setting it up was a breeze but, unfortunately, it can't handle the throughput speeds of my Wiebe Tech RAID and thus has been sitting dormant. A warning to others considering such a modification.
