Has anybody purchased this RAM upgrade from Crucial?

The 4GB MacBook Pro upgrade kit is a 2GBx2 and is only $85.99. Seems like a wise thing to do since Apple charges $200 for the 4GB upgrade. That is assuming this is good quality. Does anybody have experience with this product or the company? I would love to upgrade my RAM without paying Apple $114.01 to put it in for me.

I bought the CT744454 kit from them for 149.99 and I have not had any problems with it at all. Shipped fast and I have been using it for almost a year now.

I bought mine from MacSales.com and it was worked wonderfully. Also, I would never pay someone to install it. It's incredibly easy.

For the do it yourself crowd installing RAM is easy but for some it can be a beast.

I remember a friend who bought a Titanium PowerBook six or so years back. He then grabbed a RAM upgrade (could only go to 1GB @ the time) and attempted to install himself. Problem was the clips that help the RAM in place were flimsy plastic and he snapped one off in the process. His do it yourself money saving fix created the need for a new logic board.

Lesson: Be very, very, very careful when you get that box open. The stakes are high.

I use crucial in my PC. It is actually funny that you ask about product quality. Crucial makes some of the highest quality RAM on the market. For laptop memory the price is great too. I think ig got 4 gigs of 1ghx ram for my gaming rig for like 65 bucks but that was mega sale. Vrucial is the way to go!

I know this is a *slightly* old thread, but it is worth noting that this RAM isn;t the fastest. Depending on when you bought your MBP the SPEED might be a downgrade.

Apple always charges way too high a price for what they should be charging. You're paying a big premium when you don't need it. It's better to buy it at places like newegg where it's much cheaper.

How does the crucial memory compare to the OWC from macsales.com? Which one would be better to buy?
