    has anyone tried this yet?
Just because Steve has promised to give us an SDK in February doesn't mean TUAW's own Erica Sadun is giving up on us. She's still going strong on getting more and more functionality onto the iPhone as we speak. Case in point: her new SendSong, which is updated from before to work with 1.1.1 and the latest ringtone developments.

She warns that it's still pretty "flakey," but the idea is that you can click any song in your iPhone's library, and then choose to send it by email to someone else, or (and here's the kicker) automatically make it a ringtone. Give it a try, and let her know how it works. Official iPhone development may start in February, but unofficial iPhone development continues.

hey can someone test that out with sending the ringtones if they are either in .m4a formats or renamed into .m4r formats... that would be sweet if it this will work with 1.1.1 ..

    also is this on installer?

It works. I've used it for 11 ringtones so far. It even creates the spoof file.

I used only m4a files, already cut and trimmed (and amplified) for ringtone use.

FWIW, I am using SendSong 0.17 Experimental.

it works but still hits or miss. Some work some don't. Make sure you convert your
ringtones in Itunes to ACC which is the m4a format then just create a playlist for
your ringtones and sync with your iphone to get them on Sengsongs list. Then find the ringtones -> click send to ringtones . You may have to reboot your phone to make it work.

What am I missing here? I've tried like 17 different m4a (AAC) files and I can't get any of them to work. Once you "Send to Ringtones" what is supposed to happen? I'm assuming they are supposed to be available in the Settings/Sounds/Ringtone menu, right?

I'm on firmware 1.1.1, used iJailbreak and installed Installer v3.0b3. Sendsong version 0.09.

Do I need to update something to make this work? Or am I doing something else wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

I believe you need to update sendsong to 0.17 experimental. I haven't checked Installer or the pxl resource site today to check and see if it's available through either of those methods, but it is available on www.ericasadun.com for manual install, and isn't very hard that way.

you're using the wrong version. use version 0.19 experimental. don't use the one on installer, it doesn't work for 1.1.1. http://ericasadun.com/ftp/Applications/SendSong/
