Well i was a bit upset when I updated customize earlier today to find that it stuck 4 icons back on my dock and a bunch of apps reappeared that I wanted hidden. I'm just a novice at this, but I went through the file system and found the file that you need to change to get it back to three(or 5 or whatever). I changed the order around, noted the time, and began to look for files changed at that exact instance. I found it after 10 minutes or so of searching. I changed the files and it worked!

I'm running 1.1.1 and using 1.17 customize. Please don't copy the code out of this thread, I had to add extra spaces to get it to display right, and it will not work in the file.

Here's some instructions to do it yourself:
    1. Navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/
    2. Find the file M68AP.plist
    3. Save the file to your computer and make a backup copy.
    4. Open it up in a text editor (notepad)
    5. Look for, and not too far down you'll see something like this:
      Code:
      < key >buttonBar< / key>
      < array >
      	< dict>
      		< key >displayIdentifier< / key >
      		< string >com.apple.mobilemail< / string >
      	< / dict >
      	< dict >
      		< key >displayIdentifier< / key >
      		< string >com.apple.mobilephone< / string >
      	< / dict >
      	< dict >
      		< key >displayIdentifier< / key >
      		< string >com.apple.mobilesafari< / string >
      	< / dict >
      	< dict>
      		< key >displayIdentifier< / key >
      		< string >com.apple.mobileipod-MediaPlayer< / string >
      	< / dict >
      < / array >
    6. Just select the section starting with < dict > and ending with < / dict > I moved the iPod, shown in purple.
    7. Cut, and paste back into the iconlist section. ex:
      Code:
      < key >iconList< / key >
      < array >
      	< dict >
      		< key >displayIdentifier< / key >
      		< string >com.apple.mobileipod-MediaPlayer< / string >
      	< / dict >
      	< dict >
      		< key >displayIdentifier< / key >
      		< string >com.apple.weather< / string >
      	< / dict >
      etc.
      < / array >
    8. HIDE ICONS To prevent any particular icon from showing up, scroll down to the < key >iconList< / key > section, and just delete the text starting with < dict > and ending with < /dict >
for the icon you want to remove from your dock. I deleted the fieldtest app, shown in red. ex:
      Code:
      < key >iconList< / key >
      < array >
      	< dict >
      		< key >displayIdentifier< / key >
      		< string >com.apple.mobilemail< / string >
      	< / dict >
      	< dict >
      		< key >displayIdentifier< / key >
      		< string >com.apple.weather< / string >
      	< / dict >
      	< dict >
      		< key >displayIdentifier< / key >
      		< string >com.apple.fieldtest< / string >
      	< / dict >
      etc.
      < / array >
    9. Transfer the file back and re-spring!

NOTE: Changing the order in customize might undo some of your changes. I would suggest you get the order the way you want it to be using customize and put all your stupid hide me apps at the end to delete manually later.

and a quick why i wanted to keep my 3 dock icons:

Can you zip that theme for us?! I especially like the wallpaper and the 3 dock icons, cuz those are the only 3 that I keep on my dock as well. I would love to have the large iphone, firefox, and thunderbird icons to make the dock look better!

    Thanks!

I'd love to have that theme, and that icon, but with 4 (or possibly 5) icons!

Seriously, where can that one be found?

Since i've restored and stopped using summerboard, i'm trying to do this again without making blank apps.

I'd love to have that theme, and that icon, but with 4 (or possibly 5) icons!

The regular square icons are from the mystique summerboard theme, and I found the ones i used for my dock with a google search. The background I found online too.

XLaunch says it can only be used w 1.1.1

What happens to the size/spacing of the icons if you try to stuff 5 on the dock using the M68AP.plist?

Bro, please post what you have so others (namely me!) can use it!

The latest version says it's updated for 1.1.2, though I can't test that since I'm still running 1.1.1.
