when you first open up the shell, what shell is that?

I believe it is the bourne shell is that correct?
when I type bash It changes to the bash shell.
How can I make it default to the bash shell

I am trying to write a good Bash-prompt
I have only experience with Bash...

Or I guess I can learn how to customize any of the other shells

    Thanks
I have screwed up enough Motorola V series phones
I guess I will give the ol' iphone a try

Typing 'echo $SHELL' reports that it's the standard Bourne shell, /bin/sh.

You can edit the /etc/passwd file (e.g. with vi) to change the last field of root's entry to one of the available shells - /bin/bash, /bin/csh, /bin/sh, /bin/tcsh, /bin/zsh.
