    I have no music or videos on my 8GB iPhone... and I only installed a few apps (11) taking up about 25MB of space, but my phone told me after I added the 11th (Apollo IM app) that I was running low on disk space...

    doesn't seem right... I know that the amount of apps I have installed cannot be the limit... but maybe I am missing something... Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

    I think the limit on 1.1.2 is around 30mb for apps. Im running into the same problem I have around 26mb and get that error.
    You can also use this guide to make more space for apps. http://modmyi.com/wiki/index.php/Mov...edia_Partition

    thats a bummer... I would assume there has got to be a way to raise that limit.

    just out of interest, how much more space does that give you?

    I am afraid to use that method... just incase the 1.1.3 update (which should be out soon) breaks something.. I would rather it be tested first by a more experience iPhoner

    Well, I would assume that the 1.1.3 update would break your apps anyway...

    The concept is the iPhone harddisk is divided into 2 partition as below:

    # df -k
    Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
    /dev/disk0s1 307200 266384 37744 88% /
    /dev/disk0s2 7622368 6622388 999980 87% /private/var

    thats 300mb on disk01 and 7.7gb on disk02.

    Now, on my case i have moved my apps to disk02 and provide symbolic link to there, which made my disk0s1 still has 37mb available. If I don't do that i might already out-of-space coz i have lots and lots apps installed. If am not mistaken, BSD subsystem itself already cost 4-5mb.

    Also i have taken out the built-in ringtones that i don't like, 3-4 of them which costs 100k-200k each.

    How much space do i have now for my apps, as much as free space in disk0s2

    regarding upgrade to 1.1.3 and next, don't worry, usually (from my exp) its going to wipe out your phone anyway, that's what happen to me when i upgrade from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 and then when to 1.1.2

    Here's what's the directory going to look like after to migrate the /Applications folder to disk0s2:

    # ls -al
    total 21
    drwxrwxr-t 16 root admin 612 Dec 18 00:41 .
    drwxrwxr-t 16 root admin 612 Dec 18 00:41 ..
    drwxr-xr-x 6 root wheel 272 Dec 17 23:22 .svn
    lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 29 Dec 18 00:41 Applications -> private/var/root/Applications
    drwxrwxr-x 11 root admin 374 Dec 17 23:26 Library
    drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 102 Oct 11 07:44 System
    drwxr-xr-x 36 root wheel 1224 Dec 18 00:24 bin
    drwxrwxr-t 2 root admin 68 Oct 10 13:32 cores
    dr-xr-xr-x 3 root wheel 728 Dec 26 08:23 dev
    lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 11 Oct 24 07:37 etc -> private/etc
    lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 11 Oct 24 07:37 mach -> mach_kernel
    drwxr-xr-x 5 root wheel 170 Dec 17 23:26 private
    drwxr-xr-x 17 root wheel 578 Dec 18 00:24 sbin
    lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 15 Oct 24 07:37 tmp -> private/var/tmp
    drwxr-xr-x 9 root wheel 306 Dec 17 23:57 usr
    lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 11 Oct 24 07:37 var -> private/var

    Hope my explaination helps
