You can use one of the iAmp Volume Booster programs on the installer.

It should be under "Tweaks 1.1.3".

Isn't that just for the ipod and safari functions though? I do not think it works on the actual phone audio functions.

The preference file which controls the maximum volume on the iphone is located in ~/Library/Preferences and is called com.apple.celestial.plist

Use http://140.124.181.188/~khchung/cgi-bin/plutil.cgi to convert this plist to text format and open it up in a text editor. You'll see a bunch of oddly calculated numbers like "0.6123745842". Change them all to "1", and under the global key, change that one to "1.5"

Save the file and place it back in ~/Library/Preferences, then reboot.
Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

    your in "/var/root/library/Preferences"

You need to go back further in the directory before "/var/" ... in there, there is another folder called "library"

    you want... "/library/Preferences"

Do you think that you could change the value to something bigger than 1 to make it even louder or no?

I'm running 1.1.4 and that may be my problem but in /Library there is a Preferences but it's only a shortcut that opens /private/var/preferances no actual folder called Preferences.

Or you could get old school, and poke holes through the iPhone speaker to open the plastic shielding in the speaker.

I used this method with iAmp to boost my volume levels.

    Good luck!
