The developers of ICY have posted the source code for anyone to use. So anyone can update it and build on it if they want to. It is open source.

Works perfectly. Just downloaded it! Only quarm is, the ui is very plain and minimal. And you have to add all the sources manually, one by one.
It is a fair bit faster than cydia too! Which we all need now rock has gone!

Hey, there is an Icy 4.0 Beta download for free. It works perfectly on my iPhone 4 running on 4.0.1. It's definitely a great alternative to Cydia!

    Just add the source:
MK321024 Repository - MyRepoSpace.com and search for "ICY BETA 4.0"

My only question is: where is the updates/changes section in Icy that shows you all of the updates and changes for jailbreak apps from the sources you downloaded? That's the component of Cydia I like, and I can't seem to find it in Icy.

If you go into the "Installed" tab of Icy, there is an "Updated" tab you can select, but it's always been blank for me, even if there are updates available.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy Icy 4.0!

I have been using my version for about a week. The above version is fine and I am not sure what they did to their version, but the one I have posted on my repo has been tweeked a little. Plus I have a few cosmetic changes in store. I am already working on the next version update to include automatic download of sources. Add my repo to Cydia http://repo.i-mods.net

I have to agree, while I have no complaints about Cydia(like we have a choice)Icy is quick and easy!!

Simple and fast!! While you cant purchase any apps through Icy(I think I have purchased about 5 over the last 3 years)Its a great alternative to Cydia now especially with Rock being no more!!

Thanks, but for some reason, even when there are updates, the "Updated" tab is always empty for me.

I think - i may be wrong - but the reason it doesnt update like cydia does, is because it doesnt use apt like cydia... Maybe thats something that could be implemented if someone has the knowhow??

Okay. That would definitely make sense. Thanks for your help!

So would I just use Cydia to get my jailbreak app updates?

Ok kool... Mine wasnt showing updates either... I hope that this can be made to work aswell as cydia, if not better. If you need anything tested before it goes out, im willing to test it for you. Im on a 3GS 4.1.

Any progress on the updates part?
