    The .profile works fine for me however I get:

    -sh: : command not found
    -sh: : command not found

    Why is this? I've played with the file and the file causes this to occur...

    My file:

    # Aliases
    alias ssh='ssh2'

    # User specific environment
    PATH=$PATH:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin
    TERM=vt100

    export PATH TERM

    ok found the problem - I don't have VT100 installed. Where can I get it?

    what is this .profile file youre referring to?

    also when I enter some commands the program seems to automatically add a space or sometimes it seems to do some really weird things. i dont know how to explain it, its like it puts the command I'm typing at the end I itself and then let's me continue I type

    I can't seem to successfully enter in the alias commands for nes

    I thought this was my answer to get aliases working for sound and nosound with iPhoneNES, but I can't get it to stick either. "alias" doesn't output anything. Does the .profile file have to be a certain encoding or certain permissions? Is it possible someone could upload a .profile file that is working for them?

    I have a .profile working correctly on my iphone for nes sound. I posted the howto in the NES Sound problem thread, so maybe check that, and let me know if its too brief.

    The quoted .profile I posted on page 1 of this thread is the one I am using and it works perfectly fine. permissions are 600 for /var/root/.profile

    It is certainly not working for me. If I copy and paste into textedit to make the file, save it as .profile, give it the proper permissions in var/root and in terminal I'm still not gettting any aliases registering - can you just upload the actual .profile file you are using - then if I put that in var/root with proper permissions and it's STILL not working, I have another problem. Somehow the .profile file I'm creating is not being processed.

    the profile is only being read for my if I do 'source var/root/.profile' first. What's the trick to it being read automatically?

    I'm trying to run bash automatically when I open Terminal.

    For this I changed my /etc/master.passwd file.
    from:
    root:XUU7aqfpey51o:0:0::0:0:System Administrator:/var/root:/bin/sh
    to:
    root:XUU7aqfpey51o:0:0::0:0:System Administrator:/var/root:/bin/bash

    The problem is whenever I open Terminal, -bash-3.2# is there, but when I type 3 charcters it suddenly quits!!!

    any thoughts?

    I'm having the same problem, and I see others are too. I added an /etc/shells with /bin/bash as one of the lines, and it still doesn't work. I can't even login to the mobile account when the root account's login shell is changed.

    Any suggestions?

    That issue comes from having multiple instances of OpenSSH installed. Delete one and you should be ok.
