I'm posting this question here because I believe this is the best place to get an answer.

I'd like to change the background image without installing Winterboard. I already installed a custom SMS alert sound (sms-received4.caf) via SSH and I'd like to do the same with the background image but I can't find it in the file structure.

Does anybody know where it is and what it's named?

    Thanks.

    what iOS? 3.x.x?
    2.x.x?

I imagine you mean on your springboard/homescreen and not on your lock screen correct?

Like it says in my profile, it's 3.1.3 and no I'm not talking about the lock screen. The more I think about it, the springboard black is probably not an image file so I doubt it can be easily changed without using a program like Winterboard.

This is now a moot point since upgrading to iOS 4. Now I'm waiting for an official jailbreak to fix my custom ringtones and custom SMS sound and I'm really missing GriP and SBSettings.
