Hi all and sorry if there is a tutorial for this but I am a bit confused by all the different methods to jailbreak etc. My problem is this.
I have an iPhone 3G 8gig from Vodafone Malta , I am using a Vodafone Malta sim card but want to keep the unlock to be able to use my phone in the UK also. It is on 3.1.2(7D11) and 05.11.07 , jailbreaked using Blackrain which I found easy. I need to update to 3.1.3 if possible to keep a couple of apps working however keeping the unlock etc is more important , you get the picture! I have read a few methods to update with custom firmware but this is where I get confused! Can anyone give me a easy solution that is guaranteed to work , if not I will leave it as it is. Thanks guys.

Do not update, if you need an unlock, there is no new festure at OS 3.1.3.

You should do a search in Cydia for firmware changer It makes your phone believe it is running whatever firmware you type in I believe there is one just for 3.1.3.

The reason I have Custom Firmware is because I have the old bootrom , if you have the new bootrom, you cannot use my method. I like to use Pwnage tools because it gives me the flexibility of customising my jailbreak....::::::::

I have a 3GS with 3.1.3 and used Spirit to Jailbreak it. Runs perfectly and is untethered, and possibly the fastest jailbreaking method to date- plug, click the jailbreak button and 5 secs later you are done. But between your OS and 3.1.3 there are no new features to speak of. Stick with what you have mate.

So I would stay on 3.1.2 but trick my phone to think it's using 3.1.3 therby letting the apps work properly??
