    I'm using redsn0w 0.8 on a Mac PPC G5 for a 16GB iPhone 3G.

Locating ipsw was fine, entering DFU mode was fine, but when it gets to please wait while your device is being jailbroken it just gets stuck on waiting for reboot..

Does anyone else have this problem with redsn0w?
    What am I doing wrong?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I never had a problem with it, & what you have stated doesn't sound like your doing anything wrong to me.

Yeah it's rather strange, as I write I am on my third attempt, and still it stays on waiting for reboot.
In anycase, thank you for your quick reply...

    1) What is the name of the ipsw file you're using? Does it start with iPhone1,2?
    2) If it does start with iPhone1,2 then when it is stuck on the reboot screen just unplug the USB cord (from the computer) and plug it right back in

    Yes thank you Angiepangie!!!
Your suggestion of unplugging the cable and plugging it back on works beautifully though seemed rather strange...

Will I have to do the same for 3.0.1?

    Thanks again...

Yup for 3.0.1 they need to point to the 3.0 .ipsw for it to work, not 3.0.1

I wonder why it does that, I've jailbroken countless iPhones/ipod touches with RS and never had to unplug/replug once.

^Your ipsw file is for the 3G. You say you have a 3GS, that's your problem.
My advice would be to use pwnagetool to create a custom ipsw for 3.1.3 and update to that.
