Try a different cord or USB slot. Or even another computer if you can.

Ok, so now you hold down alt/option and click restore. A window will pop up where you point itunes to the custom stitched firmware that you made with redsnow.

You picked the wrong firmware. It has to be the firmware that redsnow made, not the one you downloaded.

im re downloading the ones you gave me.....once they get downloaded and i throw them in my folder....is that the one i use?

No, those are the ones you point redsnow to when you are following the stitching guide I gave you. Redsnow will make a custom 5.1.1 firmware from that and put it in the same folder as the original. The custom firmware is what you point itunes to. Follow the guide closely, all of this is in there.

Just a thought but when downgrading don't you need to be in pwnd DFU for the ipsw to be accepted by the device :-)

LOL, Simon, you ARE the man....no doubt, and i can't honestly say thank you for being sooo patient w/me....I DO have the phone on DFU....when I download the firmware 5.1.1 it will read me this code.....users/lindsay2/desktop/3229497857815_iphone3,1_5.1.1_9b206_restore.ipsw

I then will hold the alt/option key when getting that pop up in itunes and it'll say that its restoring to 5.1.1.....then it tells me to pick.....so i pick that code that i just gave you.....it'll do its thing, then read, "iphone isn't elgible" so when you say to use the one that redsnow created, im assuming its the code above, so thats what i use......still says the same thing.

It wont work unless you are in pwned DFU. You use redsnow to enter pwned DFU. Open redsnow, click extras, click PWNED DFU. Then follow redsnow instructions for getting into pwned DFU.
