ok here is my question. First of all I have a jailbroken iPhone. Using a prepaid pick your PLAn. But I had it already before I got iPhone so all I did is pop in my sim after I jailbroke it. But let's say I want to take my phone back to AT&T for warranty. I can't because it hasn't been activated. Is there anyway I can activate it with this current plan? Or will I need to get a whole new plan and number and stuff? I have searched and only found info on if u want to get a new pick your plan. But not if you had it already. Thanks for any info!!!

I wouldn't take it to ATT for warranty service, take it to Apple. I would leave it just as it is, and explain that you already had this plan. The rules are still a little muddy whether or not Apple can turn you down, but I would argue (nicely) with them, especially if it's an unrelated warranty issue. Also, by law, you are allowed to modify your phone to use a different carrier. If they got real nasty, you could threaten to call your state's attorney general. OR, un-jailbreak it, un-activate it and then bring it to them for service.

ATT plays hardball, but Apple is generally nicer to deal with.

Ha-ha, yeah I understand... if it came down to that, tell them you tried to re-install the firmware, thinking that may fix the problem, and then discovered it didn't fix the problem, so you're bringing it in for service. Make sense?

It's a tough situation... over the years I've found Apple to be pretty good to deal with, but you have to be firm, but nice. If the tech doesn't satisfy you, politely ask to speak to a manager.

Are you having a problem now, or just wondering in case you do later?

Yes i am having a problem connecting to Wifi. i have tried everything, install ssh, reboot my router and everything. but its just not at home so thats why i feel there is a problem with the phone.

the iphone is out the box 1.1.2 and then i downgraded and jailbroke it. so i know wifi works because i need it when i go to jailbreakme.com when i downgrade to 1.1.1

but once im back up to 1.1.2 and activated and everything it wont even pick up the networks anymore. none of the networks i previously would connect to.

and i also jailbroke like 2 other 1.1.2 iphones and they work perfectly. i just dont understand. i feel there is something wrong with the phone

You own the media on which the iPhone Software is recorded but Apple and/or Apple's licensor(s) retain ownership of the iPhone Software itself.
    2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions
    (a) This License allows you to use the iPhone Software on a single Apple-labeled iPhone. This License does not allow the iPhone Software to exist on more than one Apple-labeled iPhone at a time or on any other phone, and you may not distribute or make the iPhone Software available over a network where it could be used by multiple devices at the same time. This License does not grant you any rights to use Apple proprietary interfaces and other intellectual property in the design, development, manufacture, licensing or distribution of third party devices and accessories for use with the iPhone. Some of those rights are available under a separate license from Apple. For more information, please email [email protected].

    (c) Except as and only to the extent permitted by applicable law, or by licensing terms governing use of open-sourced components included with the iPhone Software or iPhone Software Updates, you may not copy, decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, attempt to derive the source code of, decrypt, modify, or create derivative works of the iPhone Software, iPhone Software Updates, or any part thereof. Any attempt to do so is a violation of the rights of Apple and its licensors of the iPhone Software and iPhone Software Updates. If you breach this restriction, you may be subject to prosecution and damages.
    (d) By storing content on your iPhone you are making a digital copy. In some jurisdictions, it is unlawful to make digital copies without prior permission from the rightsholder. The iPhone Software may be used to reproduce materials so long as such use is limited to reproduction of non-copyrighted materials, materials in which you own the copyright, or materials you are authorized or legally permitted to reproduce.
    (e) THE IPHONE SOFTWARE AND IPHONE SOFTWARE UPDATES ARE NOT INTENDED FOR USE IN THE OPERATION OF NUCLEAR FACILITIES, AIRCRAFT NAVIGATION OR COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS, AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEMS, LIFE SUPPORT MACHINES OR OTHER EQUIPMENT IN WHICH THE FAILURE OF THE IPHONE SOFTWARE OR IPHONE SOFTWARE UPDATES COULD LEAD TO DEATH, PERSONAL INJURY, OR SEVERE PHYSICAL OR ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE.
    3. Transfer
    (a) You may not rent, lease, lend or sublicense the iPhone Software. You may, however, make a one-time permanent transfer of all of your license rights to the iPhone Software to another party in connection with the transfer of ownership of your iPhone, provided that: (a) the transfer must include your iPhone and all of the iPhone Software, including all its component parts, original media, printed materials and this License; (b) you do not retain any copies of the iPhone Software, full or partial, including copies stored on a computer or other storage device; and (c) the party receiving the iPhone Software reads and agrees to accept the terms and conditions of this License.
    (b) You may not rent, lease, lend or sublicense the iPhone Software Update. 4. Consent to Use of Non-Personal Data. You agree that Apple and its subsidiaries may collect and use technical and related information, including but not limited to technical information about your iPhone, computer, system and application software, and peripherals, that is gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates, product support and other services to you (if any) related to the iPhone Software, and to verify compliance with the terms of this License. Apple may use this information, as long as it is in a form that does not personally identify you, to improve our products or to provide services or technologies to you.

You agree that you will not use any third-party materials in a manner that would infringe or violate the rights of any other party, and that Apple is not in any way responsible for any such use by you.
By using the Services, you acknowledge that Apple makes no representations or warranties with regard to any sites or information displayed by or accessed through the Services. Apple, its officers, affiliates and subsidiaries shall not, directly or indirectly, be liable, in any way, to you or any other person for the content you receive or view using the Services or for any inaccuracies, errors in or omissions from the content. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR LIMITATIONS ON APPLICABLE STATUTORY RIGHTS OF A CONSUMER, SO THE ABOVE EXCLUSION AND LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

Use the supplied SIM originally with your Iphone and purposely fail the credit check, by entering a social security number that AT&T use as an instant postpay decline

Various numbers are in use, and these can easily be found on your favourite web search engine.

You will be asked to accept a separate terms of service for GoPhone

Once you top up your new account, your phone will be activated

To my knowledge AT&T will not allow you to port your existing GoPhone PAYG/ GoPhone Pick your plan to an IPhone plan this is because AT&T are not marketing the IPhone as a PAYG/PYP package
