All right, just got off the phone with AT&T, and asked them about the pre-paid plan they have with the iPhone, just in case anyone cared. Here's the details:

    • Any standard GoPhone plan works with the iPhone, $39.99 and above.
    • The activation fee of $36 remains the same.
    • There is no contract.
    • iPhone prices are the same as with contract - $499.99 for the 4 GB, $599.99 for the 8 GB.
    • $19.99 gives you unlimited internet access.

Obviously the contract plans are a better deal, but this is a great option for anyone who doesn't have the credit, or doesn't want to be locked in for two years.

The cheapest Go Phone plan is $29.99. I wonder why they won't let you use this one?
    Hmm...

Maybe your credit sucks, but you have a LOT of cash.

I have the 29.99 - 200 mins gophone plan w/ 19.99 - unlimited data ... works fine.. but i still get the annoying pop up notification after every call, i do not plan to keep it though. Its not worth it when you can get a 1 year contract 39.99 - 450 + 5000 n/w plan with an iphone data plan - 20.00 for ten dollars more and minus those notificaions. pluss i cant use visual voicemail.. my iphone is both activated via 3rd party os x apps and unlocked.
