So I'm thinking of upgrading to 3G from my 2G. A few questions:

    1) Is refurbished generally ok? No problems?
    2) Is there any additional fees other than purchasing the phone itself?

I just want to make sure it's alright to get refurbished and that it wont be junk when I get it.

    Bump.

The 3G's monthly plan is $10 more per month.

Do yourself a favor and check ATT's 3g coverage in your area. Like Sharpie said, the data plan is $10 more no matter wether or not 3g is in your area.

IMO, if you don't have 3g in your area, hold onto your 2g and keep your bill lower or wait for the new iPhone (assuming there is one) to come out and upgrade to that.

i have a refurbished 8 GB and i havent had any problems. like others said, the 3G data plan is $10 more than the 1st gen iphone plan. the only negative is that you dont have a 1 year warranty with at&t. its only 90 days but you do, however, have a 6 month warranty with apple themselves.

Also, AT&T charges a $19 fee when you make a change.
Or, at least, they did when I made the switch from 2G to 3G.

So basically, just wait for a new iPhone? (Which there will probably be)

I sold my 16GB 1st Gen iPhone on ebay immediately after the 3.0 preview for $460, with a starting bid of $200.

Just some food for thought for you 1st Gen iPhone holders.

Who the F will buy a 1st gen for that much? No native MMS, no 3G, older hardware, etc. now when you can get the 3G with no contract for that much. Lol.

Someone who doesn't have 3G in their area and doesn't feel like paying for a more expensive bill when they can't even make use of the reason why the bill is more expensive?
