I'm totally out of ideas on this one, and I'd love some other thoughts.

I have an unlocked, jailbroken (with quickpwn) 2g iphone, running on a prepaid t-mobile account that appears to have T-Zones active. I am using as an APN.

I can verify T-Zones in that when I try to go to any webpage, I get redirected to a T-Zones webpage, which is something like:

However, i can get to the T-Zones page, CNN, ESPN, etc. Wifi is turned off, so I'm definitely doing this over the EDGE network.

If I open up MobileTerm, I can do an "ifconfig -a" (the unix command that says 'show me the config of all my interfaces') and I see:

    lo0: flags=8049<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 16384
    inet netmask 0xff000000
    inet netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast
    ether 00:1b:63x:yy:zz
    pdp_ip0: flags=8011<UP,POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1450
    inet 25.32.xx.yyy --> 25.32.xx.yyy netmask 0xffffffff
    pdp_ip1: flags=8011<UP,POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1024

From the command line, I am able to telnet to a remote webserver, and get the appropriate response. On the remote server, I see the connection: - - [05/Feb/2009:21:27:27 -0500] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 200 130

and that IP address is assigned to T-Mobile, so I am definitely making the correct connection.
It's only in trying to do anything from the GUI side of the iphone that it doesn't work.

I've reset the phone entirely, re-installed 2.2 via quickpwn, tried all of the different APNs ( is the only one that worked, though I do hit some sort of proxy with . Since it looks like a proxy issue, I tried the proxy.pac/preferences.plist hacks, but they didn't work. I suspect that they didn't work in that the configuration appears to assign the proxy to ip1, yet via the ifconfig, I'm connecting on ip0, but I don't know if that is the case. I have yet to find where ip0 gets any address assigned to it.

I'm out of ideas. Anyone have a clue as to what might be going on?

I just did a complete re-install with pwnage, and brought it up to 2.2.1. Same problems though.

has anyone seen this at all?

thanks, it's good to at least get some reply.

From my testing, if this is how they're implementing it, then I suspect it won't be long before there is a hack around it. I have full internet capability, I just only have it from the shell. A properly placed proxy should just do the right thing. I'm just wondering if I'm the only one who has had this problem.

ive been digging around all day trying to figure out just what the hell this is. i opened safari on my 3G today and was greeted with this tmobile page. it has my billing info, minutes left, etc. it shows a 10.176.76./dsb......

the thing is, i have a data plan. i find it odd that it has an iPhone OPTIMIZED site! Whats the deal with that? and at first i couldnt get through to anything, but now its just fine. the browser is back perfect. but i save that page so i could inspect further. whats even stranger is i was able to download a ringtone...???????

and just for the record, i know my way around my iPhone, ive never seen this before and am not a noob. this is just something that ive never seen before
When I try to spell Jedi's on my iPhone, it auto-corrects it to Jesus...
