    Hello everyone:

I'm suffering from a case of "don't know what I don't know" here.

I was gifted the following phone:

    Model a1203
    Version 3.1.2 (7D11)
    Modem firmware: 04.05.04_G

Originally it had 3.1.3 and I successfully downgraded.

    My question is this:

I have an existing T-mobile phone and contract. My T-mobile phone has a SIM card.

What is the next step for unlocking, and so that I may research the problem on my own, what information do I need to proceed?

I have access to both a mac and PC.

Thanks for the help, I've done my best to RTFM but there are so many variables, I'm not sure which matter. A search for "unlock A1203" yields a sea of options, some of which are obviously obsolete.

I spent hours screwing around looking on my own, and after following those directions I was done in no time. I am now up and running with Tmobile on this iphone.

    Thanks Again!

Just looked thru his posts, I am guessing a 3GS. But clarification is always easier to answer.

Guess I was wrong. So you want to jailbreak and unlock both of them?

Just run redsn0w for the 2g but you will need a custom firmware for the 3G. Use pwnagetool for it

    What firmware? 3.1.2 or 3.1.3?
If you jailbreak the phones you can Hack-tivate them through the jailbreak also, or insert the sim and activate it that way if your on AT&T.
As far as what works better, your choice really but it could depend on the firmware for the 3G. More info please.

Sounds like your on 3.1.2 firmware, I would suggest blackra1n for the jailbreak. Easiest and fastest jailbreak.

I know this thread has been dead for almost 2 years but I've just got interested in iPhones recently. I've done six jailbreaks with redsn0w without any serious events but this one recently has me stumped. I had a working "slide to unlock" prior to doing the following:
    1. restore with iTunes 10.5.x
    2. jailbreak with redsn0w 9.4
Everything seemed to go smoothly but when the phone boots up, the slide to unlock is not responsive? Ironically, the "slide to power off" works perfectly. There has never been any touchscreen issues with this phone but I am not the original owner so I don't know what was done to this phone prior to my ownership. Anyone heard anything like this before?
