i'm extremely frustrated with this device...

I can jailbreak it no problem, ive tried Redsn0w and Jailbreakme. they both do fine.

When it comes to Unlocking however, i follow all directions..
I even have an ATT sim to activate it, ATT sim also works fine with the unlock. but as soon as i disable 3g, it says no service.

now when i pop in my TMobile sim, the phone says "different sim detected" goes into Emergency calls onl, and doesnt even give my Tmobile Sim a chance....

any input?? i'd be really greatful.

Ok, here's your solution, had the same problem.. to do this guide.. first install OpenSSH from cydia and if you don't know how to ssh into your phone... google it... then do the following...

1 SSH into your phone... without any sim installed.. (root passwd: alpine)

    2. Navigate to /private/var/root/library.. you'll see a folder called lockdownd.. back that up somewhere, on your desktop for example.. then.. what you do is you download this file: RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting
    Extract that somewhere..

    3. Delete the old folder from your iPhone, and then copy the new folder to the iPhone, check the permissions of the files inside, they should all be 644.

    4. Turn your phone off, put your carrier sim inside, your t-mobile sim in this case, boot up and it should work!

    Good luck.

after all that, it just kept saying "searching..." so i left it alone, ate breakfast, came back up to a "no service"

But now it doesn't go to emergency screen anymore? Ur sure you've got ultrasn0w installed for the unlock? If so, try to reinstall and reboot by holding the home and lock buttons at the same time, if not install it by adding repo: http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia.

Good luck and let me know!

iGatmad you should try downgrading it.I run my iPhone 3G mb model with 5.13.04 baseband on 3.1.3 by downgrading from 4.0.2 firmware.Keep in mind that not everything in Cydia is upgraded yet for use with 4.0.2 firmware.Yes I am aware of ultrasn0w unlocking 5.13.04 baseband but you should really downgrade.

yea i just did the thing jedi was talking about. i downgraded to 3.1.3 using pwnage tool and that automatically hacktivates it so no worries from that sense and you can unlock easily with ultrasn0w at that point. currently i have 3.1.3 on 5.13.04 and it finally works perfectly for the first time since i got it like 4 days ago working on this for like 5 hours a day lol.
