well, i guess i may have to try that....i keep getting the cydia icon but it must not really be jailbreaking bc it is rebooting on its own (and it is the newer bootrom). By own its on I don't mean randomly, just that when it does reboot, i don't have to do it tethered.

Does it really matter which utility i use to flash the ipad bb? (and do you know if there are any problems with an unlock on the ipad bb versus an iphone one)

Use redsnow to reflash the iPad baseband.

Ok, so it isnt rebooting randomly. It should reboot without booting tethered though, you just wont be able to use cydia until you do boot tethered. That is normal.

oh, i see...ok, let try to boot tethered and see what that does.

    That was it, duh.

I didn't realize it would boot untethered. My phone yesterday would not boot untethered at all...it would just stay with the white icon.

So, with this phone, i'm unlocking for my GF. She never really uses cydia...so, she can reboot/turn off the phone and she only loses the use of cydia but it will still be unlocked?

If it is unlocked with ultrasnow then it will lose the unlock when booting without redsnow. Anything installed with cydia will not work unless you boot with redsnow.

Still waiting on confirmation if it still works for 5.1.1 baseband or not before I add that for 4S.

Because IMEI unlocking is more expensive and cannot be done for all carriers.

Is there any option for an unlock if I have a 3GS with a serial number XX145? I have already asked AT&T to unlock it but they said they have a new policy and will not unlock phones for people who do not have an AT&T account. I work overseas and really need it to be unlocked but realize the ipad baseband upgrade is not compatible. In addition, I currently have the most recent baseband on the phone. So, I am stuck it seems. Unless, you have a suggestion as to how to unlock the phone. Please let me know. Thanks so much!!!!!

Find someone with a ATT account or you can try a IMEI unlocking site like this: Unlock iPhone, Official iPhone Unlock, Apple iTunes Unlock

Is it still possible to Jailbreak and Unlock for iPhone 2G 3.1.3 using this link?
iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your iPhone 2G on OS 3.1.3 Using RedSn0w (Mac) (Comments)

The phone right now is 3.1.2 and has no PUSH function. Have tried this way
    but still no luck.

Will updating to 3.1.3 and not hacktivating work?

Hey guys, does anyone know if the Gevey SIM Card will work with the iOS 5.1.1 if I preserve my Baseband? My Baseband is 4.10.01 and I'm currently running iOS 5.1 and t works just fine. Is there anyway to upgrade my iOS to 5.1.1 and preserve my Baseband? Is there a Redsn0w update that will let me update my iOS to 5.1.1 and preserve my Baseband? Thank you.

Yes. Latest redsnow or snowbreeze can make a custom 5.1.1 for you to preserve your baseband.
