Run tiny umbrella as admin, connect your device and press save SHSH to see what you get.

Ok, got it. I will check what SHSH you have now. You may want to edit your post to delete those numbers now.

Was only able to save 4.2.1 SHSH with that ecid. That means right now that is the only firmware you can restore to. Did you already do the ipad baseband update?

Well if you have done the ipad baseband thing already then you will need to use a custom 4.2.1 firmware to restore to. Check your PM for one.

Ok, thanks. So i restore in iTunes with this? Will it not give me the 1015 error?

Nope, you wont get 1015 error. Make sure you use redsnow to enter pwned dfu first before restoring to the custom firmware.

Also you should use idetector to find out what bootrom you have: iH8sn0w.com | Jailbreak your iPod touches and iPhones

I have installed the CFW and the phone now works again... Thank you!!

Is it safe/possible to jailbreak and unlock it now?

You can install cydia with redsnow 0.9.6b6 and unlock with ultrasnow from cydia. You should find out what bootrom you have though since it is a tethered jailbreak on 4.2.1 depending on what bootrom 3GS you have.

idetector advises i am running the OLD Bootrom. How does this affect me?

If i wish to unlock the phone, will it remain unlocked? Or will a tethered Jailbreak stop this?

That's a good thing. It means you will be untethered on 4.2.1. Just use redsnow to install cydia (say no to the new model question and make sure you point redsnow to a regular 4.2.1 firmware). Then install ultrasnow from cydia to unlock.

Hi, while we're on the topic of unlocking 5.14.02, I have a few questions that i need clarified about the "risks"

1.) There is no way to come back down from 06.15, and there’s no hiding the baseband version from Apple. You’ll be voiding your warranty in a very obvious way.

Q: Is there anything apple can do to 'punish' those who unlock using this method? Lets say my warranty is already expired, would this risk affect me in any way?

3.)Starting with FW 4.2.1 if you have 06.15 on your iPhone you won’t ever be able to restore to stock firmware (it will fail). You’ll need to only restore to custom IPSWs (then again, if you’re unlocker you should already be doing that).

Q: I've never unlocked b4 so i guess i'll learn about IPSWs later, but when they say starting w/ FW 4.2.1 and 06.15, does that mean after i do this unlock, i will never be able to restore via itunes? or does this only apply to those who are already on FW 4.2.1 and 06.15 BEFORE attempting this unlock?

tldr; i'm on 4.1 and 05.14.02, will this risk affect me?

    thanks =)

Nothing they can do except refuse to fix it for free.

You have to use itunes to restore. It just means you will have to use custom firmware with the baseband update taken out so that you wont get errors when restoring.
