I tried to unlock my 3gs with 4.3.1 on my Mac. It ran into an error. After restarting the computer and iTunes, iTunes is now detecting a phantom iPhone. There is no device plugged in, and iTunes just shows an iPhone in recovery mode with no stats about version or capacity. I presume there is some image of an iPhone created via redsn0w that is stuck due to the error. But a search around doesn't reveal a way to nuke this phantom iPhone that is tricking iTunes.

    Thoughts?

I've had the same problem jailbreaking an iPhone 4 on 4.3.1 with redsn0w. Attempting to restore the phantom iPhone fails, and does not resolve the problem.
