Hi everyone I have a iPhone 3GS. I've been having problems with mms, using data outside of wifi I think it's called tethering or something and in general>about Carrier it says Not Available... So I went online found a AT&T carrier bundle downloaded it and now I have 2 FOLDERS names ATT_US.bundle and Unknown.bundle and now my question is what do I do with these files. Or how do I install onto my iPhone.

I downloaded a similar file, not sure if that one. After install, I lost my network settings tab. Weird. I'm still struggling to repair this.

^iOS 4+ requires a digital signature for carrier bundles. Installing any non-Apple bundle will cause problems unless you also hack the CommCenter. If you're an AT&T customer, its best to restore, start clean with stock bundles and go from there.

I want to try all fixes before restoring since ive restored this phone about 6 times and everytime I restore I get stuck in recovery mode so I have to jailbreak install Cydia then run the ireb boot loop fix to get into the iPhone and still the same problem remains. >.

Only Apple has it ... and they don't share. But call them, maybe you'll be the 1st

Network reset doesn't do anything either I reset and those carrier files in the iPhone root directory remain empty.

AT&T iPhones work 'out of the box' on AT&T networks. No changes are necessary. I'll say this again, non-stock Apple/AT&T carrier bundles will NOT work without a special hack to the CommCenter. Uninstall, restore, do whatever is necessary to get it back to stock carrier bundles and it will work.

    ^You can't. A restore deletes everything.

I changed the bundle on my iPhone 4 without having to patch comm center. I'm not on a unsupported carrier tho either I just wanted the cellular data tab in settings. I copied the carrier.plist out of the unknown.bundle into my current bundle with no problems. Rebooted phone had service and the cellular tab so I was good to go.

^That worked because you used an existing carrier bundle ... unknown.bundle distributed by Apple

I must add: It is possible to change some things in a stock carrier bundle without hacking the CommCenter: example the carrier logo can be changed, but other areas can not, example: apn. It depends upon which section Apple checks for a 'digital signature'.

Ok then how does unlockit change your apn without a comm center patch? You say apn can't be edited without the patch but unlockit does it and I can manually change it in the plist no issues and no patch. So I'm a little confused. The i4 I use is factory unlocked so maybe that has something to do with it.
