    Hello All,

Scouring through the forums, I haven't found a definitive answer to to my question and I was hoping one of you experts could provider additional insight so I don't render my iPhone unusable.

I currently have an iPhone 4 running on firmware 4.0.1 and bandband 1.59.00 that I unlocked and jailbroke myself some time ago last year.

I would like to update to the latest firmware (4.3.x). Is this possible? What procedures should I follow to Jailbreak and unlock my iphone on the new firmware. I know that I should not, under any circumstance, update the baseband.

Thank you very much in advance!

    Device: iPhone 4 (16GB)
    Current firmware version: 4.0.1 (8A306)
    Status: Jailbroken
    Current Bandband: 01.59.00
    Status: Unlocked by UltraSnow

use tiny umbrella to update to latest firmware without updating baseband or create a custom ipsw(recomended) and jailbreak

It is safer to use the custom ipsw which you can make with either sn0wbreeze or pwnage tool

    Thanks z3r01 & Cowboy.

So my understanding is that I can create a new, custom ipsw with sn0wbreeze or pwnage which will not update the baseband. Would you recommend one more so than the other? I have a Mac and I believe pwnage is the only option.

Is the custom ipsw already jailbroken and includes Cydia?

Which firmware should I create the custom ipsw from? 4.3.1, 4.3.2, or 4.3.3.

Here is the procedure as I understand, could you please validate it?
    1. build custom ipsw firmware (sn0wbreeze or pwnage?) with firmware (4.3.1, 4.3.2, or 4.3.3?)
    2. update my iPhone with the newly created custom ipsw through iTunes
    3. Provided that the custom firmware is jailbroken and includes Cydia, download UltraSnow and re-unlock phone.

    Can it be that easy?

    Yes its that easy
    sn0wbreeze is pc only
    pwnage tool is mac only
so just depends on what type of computer you are using lol

You're awesome! So here's an update to the procedure:

    1. build custom ipsw firmware (pwnage tool, since I have a mac) with firmware 4.3.3
    2. update my iPhone with the newly created custom ipsw through iTunes
    3. Custom firmware is jailbroken and includes Cydia
    4. Download UltraSnow and re-unlock phone.

Am I missing anything else? Would it be safer to update to 4.3.1 or 4.3.2 rather than 4.3.3?
