I have a current iphone3g. I wanted to unlock it, and went through with the whole jailbreak and ultrasnow. However, after i thought i unlocked it, it turns out it didn't work, because i had previously updated my iphone to 4.2.1, which means the baseband was updated to 5.15.04.

So when i tried to unlock, i had to go back down to 3.1.3.

So now i'm stuck with an iphone 3g that is on 3.1.3 and 5.15.04 baseband. Do i have any options to complete this unlock? I read that i have to get 6.15.00 baseband? but i can't get that because my current firmware is not recognized by redsn0w. i need to be on 4.2.1. So how do i get back on 4.2.1, so that i can then get 6.15.00 through redsnow to be able to unlock through ultrasnow. So confused. Can someone help please???

Go to 4.1. It's is a piece of cake to restore. No SHSH required. TU exit recovery fixes iTunes error 10xx. Once there, redsnow 0.9.6rc8 will install the iPad BB. Then a quick stock restore back to 3.1.3

And .... 4.2.1 is the max iOS so you can restore to that anytime too.
Update: 4.2.1 needs redsn0w 0.9.6rc18 for the iPad BB

    Thanks Mes.

I'm new to this. so i basically have to upgrade up to 4.2.1 through iTunes again right. Then use redsnow to get the ipad baseband 6.15.00 right? Then unlock it through Ultrasnow?

Not sure what you meant by stock restore back to 3.1. Any help is appreciated.

Yes. Back to 3.1.3 is optional ... up to you. A 3G on 4.2.1 is a bit sluggish.
For a 3G, many restore options exist. All 3.x iOS, 4.1, and 4.2.1. All versions can be unlocked and jailbroken.
