Awesome..so I am all set now..wish me luck

I started doing jailbreak using greenpois0n but below is what I got.
    Unable to find fs_mount
    Unable to find fs_unmount
    Unable to find fs_load_file
    Greenpois0n initialized”

It didn't do anything after that

Redo it. Hold the home button down for the entire process until you see the apple logo show up again. It won't go past those 4 code lines unless you keep holding the home button.

Edit: Just hold your home and power buttons down until your phone turns off, then do the GP process again.

What is new bootroom and old bootroom?

Old boot iPhone 3GS were manufactured first, allowing for untethered jb on any fw version. Apple retaliated against jb and released a new boot model so certain fw versions (particularly the new ones) have tethered jb.

I tried it 5 times till now but no success
Phone went to dfu mode, I kept holding the home button, then clicked the jailbreak button (still holding the home button) then the 4 lines appeared, I still had home button held, then Greenpois0n showed the quit button. I still kept holding home for 1 minute after that. Then I gave up the hope, hit quite and shut down my phone.

Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong. Thanks

Just use redsn0w to jb it. Don't try to install the iPad bb at this time. Just jb first.

So this will be a tethered jailbreak..right? will I be able to do an untethered JB later? Because I will be unlocking it and giving it to my little brother overseas who is not be familiar with jailbreaking.

So while using redsn0w I will just select the install Cydia checkbox and deselect the update baseband option. What should I do once I do the tethered jailbreak using redsn0w? Thanks

It is brown in color. The open box and the circle around it is in white.

Cydia crashing does not indicate a tethered jailbreak. How long does it try to load before it crashes.

It immediately crashes in a blink

It's possible that since you ran GP on it first then Redsn0w after that it's messed up. Do you have SHSHs for 4.2.1 for a restore?

  15. diabolicalpanda's Avatar
Yes, I do have the SHSH blobs saved. What should I do to restore it back?

Do you have TinyUmbrella? If not, download it at thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com

I have downloaded tiny umbrella from your link. I have the SHSH blobs saved using iFaith. What should I do next?

So you didn't have it saved from Cydia?

Ok, that's a different route then. Create a signed fw with iFaith with your 4.2.1 SHSHs.

Done, created a signed ipsw. What next? I really appreciate your help.

Set your phone into pwned dfu mode (use Redsn0w or iReb). In Redsn0w there should be an option for just DFU mode, select only that. Then open iTunes, hold shift, click restore, and select your signed ipsw.
