I'm coming here because I don't know what else to do or try next!

I upgraded my unlocked iPhone that I received for Christmas to iOS 5 by accident! I use the phone with T-mobile, so now I got a gray screen that says iPhone but I can't get it to do anything because, of course, the phone is now locked again!

I tried RedSnow to create a new ISPW but iTunes always gives me the Error 1600 (I use a Mac and the latest iTunes). I also downloaded an older 4.x ISPW and iTunes is telling me it's not compatible with the phone!

I am LOST, please, any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

If you are trying to downgrade, you can only do that if you have SHSH blobs saved for the version you are trying to downgrade to.

If it's an iPhone that is pretty old, and isn't made in 2011, then you can still unlock it using redsn0w 0.9.15b5c. You can install iPad Baseband on it, and unlock it for T-Mobile.

Thank you so much for the reply!

How exactly do I go about that? I used Redsnow to create a custom file, then tried using iTunes to do a restore with the custom file but I got a Error 1600.

I've no clue about the iPad thing...

You don't need to make a custom firmware file, you just need to go through the redsn0w jailbreaking steps. Once opening redsn0w, press Jailbreak, go through the steps and make sure to check "Install iPad Baseband" it will give you some warnings, make sure you read them. That's it, after the jailbreak it complete you can install ultrasn0w to unlock the iPhone.
