the guide says he "supposes" this will work if you want to return the phone to apple. can anyone confirm if this is true.

i checked the script. all it does is erase nvram arguments that could have been set by other apps (like ziphone).

the nvram arguments are the only things that remain after a restore. this will wipe it clean.

It will work, but theoretically if your iPhone is on AT&T you should be fine. If Apple can't come up with software to clear the nvram i doubt they have the software to check it. Its a bootloader check and thats it. Its probably not worth the risk.

ok, this is all good and that, i like that these guys have taken the time to do this, but can someone clear this up for me.

    my jailbreak process:

restore to 1.1.4, open iliberty. iliberty wont work unless you disconnect and reconnect the phone to computer (then the phone is recognised by itunes) which iliberty says it must do.

then run iliberty .... couple minutes later, jailbreak/unlock/activated phone.

phone pops up in itunes again: "set up as a new phone" or "backup as ......."

your selling the phone right, its only fair if the new owner gets to do this so just unplug the phone.

you've followed the steps in this guide, restored your phone, not synced with itunes but STILL when you tap on itunes on your phone, scroll to the bottom and your itunes account is still right there.

in between the new buyer recieving the phone and doing their first sync with itunes, there is a clear gap possible where they could buy "X" amount of music from itunes.....

i guess it wouldnt sync with their computer and that, but i'd rather not spend "X" amount of money in itunes, or even have any chance of this happening.

    QUOTE FROM GUIDE:
" The iPhones system and partitions will be zeroed by this and will require a restore after using."

so the buyer is going to get our itunes accounts!!

Wouldn't signing out of iTunes and taking the SIM out before your plug it in not sync it?

im not sure what to make of this thread
the links are all dead the instructions are useless without the wipe.zip file, yet people are thanking the poster two years later?

    does this still exist?
if so the links need to be fixed

as of today and for the past 4 months it has not existed, so people stop thanking people for things you are not trying or checking first.

as of may 17 2010 this is a dead and moot thread

I think your suppose to have 280 mb in "other" which is system stuff. If you complete restored, the other stuff is wiped off old.
    Meh...
